Drag and drop
The fastest way to upload is to drag files directly from your computer onto the upload area on your dashboard. You can drag a single file, select multiple files, or even drag an entire folder to upload all supported files inside it.

File picker
Click the upload area on your dashboard to open your system's file browser. From there, select one or more files and confirm. This works the same way as attaching files in any other application.
Mobile upload
On mobile devices, tap the upload button to select files from your device. Depending on your phone or tablet, you can choose files from your local storage, camera roll, or other apps.
Inbox folder
When you connect your Google Drive, Filently automatically creates a _ Filently Inbox folder. Any file added to this folder β whether from email attachments, scanner apps, or colleagues sharing files β gets picked up and processed automatically. No need to open Filently at all.
Uploading multiple files
You can upload multiple files at once regardless of the method you use. There is no need to upload documents one by one. You can upload up to 100 files per batch.
Upload progress
Once you start an upload, a progress indicator appears for each file so you can track how things are moving along.
If an upload fails or you cancel it, the document will show as cancelled. You can simply re-upload the file to try again.
Where do uploaded files go?
Your files are uploaded directly to the _ Filently Inbox folder in your Google Drive. They never pass through or are stored on Filently's servers. This folder is automatically created inside your root folder during setup and serves as the landing spot for all uploads. Once a document is processed and filed, it is moved from the inbox folder to its final destination.
To learn more about how this folder can also be used to automatically process files added from outside Filently, see Inbox Folder Watching .
What happens after upload?
After the upload completes, Filently automatically begins processing your document. This includes:
Extracting text from the document (using OCR for scanned documents and images)
Suggesting a clean, descriptive file name
Suggesting the right folder to file it in
You can review and confirm these suggestions before the document is filed to its final location.
